- We always love hosting your events!

As Halloween candy begins to diminish and we roll into winter, we start to see a lot of nonprofit events pop up in accordance with the holidays. At Chuck’s Waterfront Grill and The Endless Summer, we try to support nonprofit causes as much as possible, and we often find organizations coming to us asking for ideas and advice on how we can help make their fundraiser the highlight of the season. Short of hosting an event with us through which we can settle on a percentage of the proceeds being donated to your cause – much as we did last month with the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara – there are many other options to pursue in your giving efforts.

We’ve put together a list of ways to add a special touch to your nonpr...

- The man, the myth, the legend: Nick Saban.

It all comes down to this in the college football world. Top-ranked Notre Dame will take on second-ranked Alabama for the BCS National Championship game TODAY at 5:30pm PT on ESPN: Although I believe that Notre Dame LB Mantei Te’O should have won the Heisman trophy, he won’t be enough against Nick Saban’s dynasty in Alabama. Yes, I said DYNASTY. Greatness starts at the top. Ever since Nick Saban got to Alabama, a talent pool of athletes has flooded Tuscaloosa. Alabama has had 5 straight top-ranked recruiting classes. Add this to the fact that Saban will know how to scheme the offense away from one guy (Manti Te’O) and a defense to bend but don’t break against Notre Dame’s unimpressive offesnse. This ...

Good luck to everyone heading into the fantasy football playoffs. Hopefully my insight has led you the right way into the playoffs. Here are my top adds for this week and they are all running backs:

1. RB- Den: Knowshon Moreno- How surprising was it to see him take all of the carries instead of Ronnie Hillman after Willis Macgahee got injured. He did really well with his chances last week rushing for over 4 yards per carry. I expect him to do even better against a weak Tampa Bay defense.

2. RB- Phi: Bryce Brown- This kid looked like he could be named flash. Did you see his 65 yard touchdown on Monday Night? He is a definite add to all fantasy football teams.

3. RB- NYG: David Wilson- After second stringer Andre Brow went down last week, ...

Whoa, I’m feelin' a bit dizzy after all of the concussions that quarterbacks suffered in week 10. Although the concussions that Michael Vick, Alex Smith, and Jay Cutler suffered creates a cloudy future for them, I have a clear future for your fantasy football team. Let me tell you who to sit and start for this crucial week before your fantasy playoffs begin in a couple weeks.
Sit ‘em:

1. Packers RB- Alex Green: It seem as though the packers have moved on from Green in favor of RB James Starks after Green posted less than 3 yards a carry in 3 of 4 games.

2. Chargers QB- Phillip Rivers: Yes, I am aware that Rivers threw for 3 touchdowns and over 300 yards last week but that was against Tampa Bay’s terrible defense. This we...

Playoffs…playoffs?…playoffs? (Jim Mora reference). Yes, the fantasy playoffs are almost here and bye weeks are almost done. This means we need to focus on starting the right players on your roster and getting the most points out of your team. So here are some of my sleepers for week 10.

1. RB-Patriots Shane Vereen: Don’t get me wrong, Shane is the second string running back behind Stevan Ridley. However, going up against the generous Bills defense, Shane should be able to vulture aways some red zone carries. Don’t forget Vereen had a 100 yard performance a couple weeks ago and destroyed the Bills in the first matchup.

2. WR-Dolphins Brian Hartline: Hartline had an impressive performance last week posting 100 yar...

Usually I am encouraging everyone to pick up certain players off of the waiver wire. To be honest, I’m not seeing any great pickups off of the waiver wire for week 9. Sometimes the best strategy to have is to just stick with your original game plan and not change your roster around. Let’s face it, there will be weeks where your stars just don’t produce for a variety of reasons but don’t panic and drop them (I continue to make this mistake). However, if you are in absolute need of a roster filler because multiple players are on byes or hurt then take a look at the following players:

1. WR Detroit-Titus Young: After a promising rookie season last year, expectations were high and he didn’t produce early in the ...

Alright, your fantasy football guru (yours truly) and many alike have been hindered by RB Maurice Jones-Drew getting hurt in the 1st quarter against the Raiders in week 7. If you’re like me, then scraping the waiver wire for week 8 is essential. Here are my top 3 waiver wire picks heading into week 8:

1. RB-Cardinals, LaRod Stephens-Howling: With his new contract extension, RB Ryan Williams going down and RB William Powell not working out, the Cardinals have to look toward LSH to be the starting RB. He produced last week with carrying the ball 20 times for over 100 yards and a touchdown. He’ll get plenty more chances moving forward.
